NETCONF Routing Policies Configuration
Routing policies are crucial for managing how routes are advertised, received, and redistributed throughout the network. They enable operators to implement traffic engineering strategies, optimize path selection, and ensure compliance with specific routing requirements. By using NETCONF to configure routing policies, operators can achieve centralized and automated management, which reduces the risk of errors and enhances operational efficiency. We executed multiple test runs in which different routing policies were signaled, such as a policy to drop PCEP traffic, Reject routes in an L3 service, or change the preference in BGP from 100 to 200.
This test's procedure includes:
- Establishing NETCONF sessions between the controller and the network node.
- Configuring and pushing the routing policies to the device
- Verify that the policy is applied correctly by checking the route tables or the routing protocol configurations
