Latency-based optimization

Optimizing network paths based on real-time network conditions, like changing latency, offers a major advantage for latency-sensitive applications like financial transactions and voice communication. In this test, we evaluated the PCE's ability to respond without human intervention to increasing latency, automatically optimize the path, and signal it to the PCC.
The test procedure included the following steps

  • Signal a path (SR-TE) from the PCE to the PCC. Alternatively, compute a path on the PCC and delegate it to the PCE
  • Associate the TE-Metric for this path with a latency-sensitive policy
  • Increase the latency on a link of the path
  • The PCE automatically responded to this latency increase by computing and signaling a new path that overcomes the high latency
